Wow, so here we go, 10k. Here's a bit of blurb, and then will follow a diary of my training exploits.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
26th June: Well I'm up to 3.8k in 20 minutes, but my blisters are a bit painful! I read on some forums that blisters is just an exciting part of running; along with the fun of finding 'interesting new places that hurt', well I certainly look forward to that. I'll invest in some new running socks I think! Aim to do a lot of cycling until my feet are healed enough to move up to 4.3k then 5k over the next fortnight.
28th June: Cycled a 10k course yesterday. Now I'm a bit worried :P Turns out to be quite a way. Went Kayaking today for a bit of different exercise. Ended up doing some swimming too...
30th June: My training today involved watching the films 'Run Fatboy Run' and 'Wimbledon'.
3rd August: After a sad lapse in training over the holiday I'm finally back into it, and am consistantly running 5k in 25mins. I'll be taking it up to 6/7k today or tomorrow. My new 1000mile socks are amazing. No more blisters!
3rd September: Well I've been plodding along, finding more than enough excuses to do shorter 'recovery' runs rather than actually pushing distance. I think I'm up to roughly 8k now, certainly feeling up to the challenge. Just need some more sponsors!
7th October: Uhoh, just a week and a half left! Weather's closing in and uni has restarted, making training less desirable. BUT a good 6k run in the rain today. Hoping to do my first 10k this weekend...
18th October: Well, I never did do that 10k practice, but today was race day! And it was amazing! Had a really fantastic time, and it was so exciting to run with so many splendid people =] Thank you to everyone who's sponsored me so far, and to those of you who still might. We made the 10k in 54 minutes, which I think is a fairly respectable time!
